About The Rational Moderate
The Rational Moderate explains U.S. public policy with evidence you can check. We take a question that is usually argued with slogans (the budget, housing, tariffs, drug prices, how elections work) and lay out what the data says, what each side's strongest argument is, and what would change the answer.
What we promise
- Every number has a source you can open, and every post lists its sources.
- Every chart has its data: a table you can read and a file you can download, with the date it runs through.
- Both sides, at their best. We state the strongest case for positions we end up disagreeing with.
- Facts and judgments are kept apart. When we take a position, we say so and show why.
- Mistakes are corrected in the open, with a dated note on the post.

One person, publishing as Editor, The Rational Moderate, who reviews and approves every post before it is published. How we work explains the process.
What we are not
We are not affiliated with any party, campaign or advocacy group, and we carry no advertising or sponsorship.
